The drivers made the 1,000 mile journey north to the Chicagoland Speedway last year, on the back of one of the most chaotic races in history. The 32-year-old, cracked, bumpy and deteriorating track at Richmond made its final ever appearance, in a record-breaking race which saw 18 leaders and 47 lead changes. However the race will be remembered for the six multi-car crashes in the second half wiping out half the field. The biggest, a 20-car melee that occurred 12 laps from the end.

This year the Chicagoland Speedway enters into its 11th year of Sprint Cup racing. The 75,000 seater venue i has seen no shortage of action over the past decade, and its former winners have included Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Not much has changed over the years and drivers will know what to expect from the 1.5m, D-shaped track with its four turns each banking 18 degrees. 267 laps will make up the 400 mile race.
